Treehouse Bunk Bed with Platform and Slide

Some children have to be talked into bed. This one has to be talked out of it.

The Treehouse Bunk Bed is built around a proper cabin: a pitched roof over the upper bunk, cut-out windows to look through, and boards deliberately left uneven so it reads as a real treehouse rather than a moulded plastic imitation. A raised platform runs off the foot of the bed, and from it a high-sided slide down to the floor.

It is made to order in Belgium by Mathy by Bols, designed by François Lamazerolles, from solid pine with a birch plywood ladder and PEFC-certified E1 MDF panels. Every piece is finished by hand in one of 26 water-based lacquer colours, so the bed that arrives is specified for one bedroom and made for it.

Two children sleep, one climbs, one slides, and the space underneath becomes whatever they decide it is that week.

Each bed is built and painted for your order, in your colour. Please allow 3 to 4 weeks from order to delivery. Because every bed is made to your specification, it cannot be returned as a change of mind. Faults and damage are of course covered in full, and we will always help you get it right before you commit. If you would like a colour sample first, ask us.

Both bunks take the same size of mattress, to match the size you order: UK singles (90cm by 190cm), small doubles (120cm by 190cm) or 140cm by 190cm doubles. The mattress on the upper bunk must be no deeper than 12cm. That figure is a safety measurement, not a suggestion: a deeper mattress raises the sleeping surface and leaves less rail above it. Mattresses aren't included but can be added to your order. For the lower bunk of the single or small double, the MemoryDream 15 is the one we'd put on it.

Room fit

The Treehouse Bunk Bed is 262cm long, including the platform and slide, which project about 33cm beyond the foot of the bed, so allow clear floor beyond that for landing. It's 179cm deep in the single and small double, and 189cm in the double. At 221cm high in every size it leaves about 19cm under a standard 2.4m ceiling, so measure your ceiling before ordering.

Questions parents ask

Can the slide go on either side?
Yes. The slide can be fitted on the left or the right, chosen during installation, so the bed works with your doorway and window rather than against them.

Which mattresses do I need?

Will it fit under my ceiling?
