Mini Highsleeper with Wardrobe, Desk & Drawers

Not a mid sleeper and not a full high sleeper. The Mini sits between the two on purpose: the whole under-bed setup of a high sleeper, wardrobe, desk, drawers and shelves, at a height a six-year-old climbs without a second thought.

The bed is 146cm tall, with the sleeping platform at about 110cm. That's 30cm lower than a standard high sleeper, low enough that you can lean in and make it, low enough that a nervous climber isn't up near the ceiling, and still high enough to fit everything underneath.

And there's a lot underneath. A double wardrobe with two doors, a hanging rail and a shelf, big enough for a child's everyday clothes. Three deep drawers. A 93cm desk with open shelves beside it. All of it in the footprint of a single bed, so a small room gets a bedroom, a wardrobe and a study out of one wall.

The desk is sized for the child this bed is for. There's 40cm of headroom above it, comfortable up to about nine or ten, and tight beyond that. If you're buying for a child who'll want to sit at a desk through secondary school, look at the Windsor or the Oxford, which have full-height desks. If you're buying for a six-year-old who'll use it for drawing and homework for the next few years, this is the one.

Finished in white and oak wood-effect board, which takes knocks without showing them. The ladder has wide flat steps and fits on either side.

Takes a continental single mattress, 90 x 200cm, no deeper than 15cm. On this bed that limit matters: the guard rail sits 31.5cm above the base, so a 15cm mattress leaves 16cm of rail above the sleeping surface, and a deeper one leaves less.
