This handmade small double mattress has a core of 1,000 individually pocketed springs, so each part of the mattress moves on its own as your child shifts in the night. Above the springs are a layer of needled British wool and a cotton comfort layer, finished with a cotton damask cover.
There's no chemical flame-retardant treatment in this mattress, and it doesn't need one: the natural wool and the cotton damask cover meet UK fire regulations on their own. The wool layer is about 2cm of 100% wool. It's needled, which works the fibres together into a dense layer that settles naturally with use. The cotton comfort layer has some synthetic fibre blended in to help it keep its shape.
It's double-sided, so you can turn it to keep it even, and it's traditionally tufted and side-stitched, with flag-stitched handles to make turning easier. It's 21cm deep with a medium feel, so check your bed's maximum mattress depth if it's going on a raised bed.
