Furnishing a living room
Start with the biggest piece, usually the sofa, and plan around it. An armchair adds seating without taking over the room, and a footstool or pouffe gives you somewhere to put your feet up or an extra seat when people visit.
A coffee table works best at about two thirds of the length of the sofa, with 40 to 45cm of space between them. Side tables sit beside a chair or the end of the sofa for a lamp, a book or a drink.
