Bunk Beds for Adults
Most bunk beds are built for children, with a weight limit to match. Every bed in this range is rated to at least 20 stone (127kg) per sleeper, and most to 25 stone (158kg), so they're suitable for teens and adults too. They suit guest rooms, holiday lets, house-shares and family homes where the children are already as tall as their parents.
The frames are solid wood or reinforced steel, and most of them split into separate beds when you need two rooms instead of one.

A double on the bottom
A full UK double below and a single on top, so it sleeps three, or four with the trundle.
A double over a double
Two double bunks, sleeping up to four in the floor space of one double bed.
High sleepers for grown-ups
If only one person needs the bed, a high sleeper keeps the floor underneath free for a desk, a sofa or storage.
Weight Ratings
The rating on each product page is per sleeper unless it says otherwise, and some beds also have a total for the whole frame. Check it against the heaviest person who will use each bunk.
Headroom
An adult needs more room above the top mattress than a child. Allow 90cm or more between the top mattress and the ceiling for an adult to sit up, and measure directly above where the bed will stand, especially in loft rooms.
Mattresses
The top bunk takes a mattress no deeper than the maximum on the product page, usually 15cm, so the guard rails stay effective. On many of these beds the bottom bunk isn't raised, so it can take a deeper mattress for more comfort; the product page says where it can. Our bunk bed mattresses are made to the right depth.

Can an adult sleep on the top bunk?
Yes, on these beds, up to the weight rating on the product page. Every bed in this range is rated to at least 20 stone (127kg) per sleeper.
Are there double bunk beds for adults?
Yes. The triple bunks have a full UK double on the bottom and a single on top, and the quad bunks have a double over a double.
Do they split into two beds?
Most do. The Somerton, Oakley, Brampton and Sterling bunks, the Oakley triple and both quad bunks are detachable. Each product page says how it splits.
Can children use them too?
Yes. As with any bunk bed, the top bunk is for children aged 6 and over.
