European Small Double Mattresses

(4 products )

A European small double mattress is 120 x 200cm, also called a continental small double. It's as wide as a UK small double but 10cm longer, and you'll find it on many children's beds made in Europe, including bunk beds with a wider bottom bunk, cabin beds and house beds.

Our European small double mattresses

All are made in the UK and arrive rolled. At 15cm or less, they suit raised beds whose maximum mattress depth is at least as deep as the mattress, as well as floor-level beds.

Will a UK small double fit a 120 x 200cm bed?

It's the right width but 10cm too short, so it leaves a gap at one end. On a raised bed or a bottom bunk with a guard rail, that gap is worth avoiding. A 120 x 200cm frame needs a 120 x 200cm mattress.

Which beds take a European small double?

Mostly children's and teenagers' beds made in Europe. The bed's product page gives the mattress size it needs. If the inside of the frame measures 120 x 200cm, this is the size.

European small double mattresses: common questions

Is a continental small double the same as a European small double?

Yes. Both mean 120 x 200cm.

What sheets fit it?

Fitted sheets made for 120 x 200cm. UK small double sheets are cut for 190cm and come up short.

Is it big enough for a teenager?

Yes. It's 30cm wider than a single and 200cm long, which gives a tall teenager room to stretch out.
