A hideaway for a little camper, with room for a friend. A slanted wooden roof holds an ecru cloth canopy that can be let right down for bedtime, rolled up for playtime, or propped up on two support poles like an awning.

Underneath, a second bed on castors pulls out for sleepovers and slides away again in the morning.

It's handmade to order in Belgium by Mathy by Bols, designed by François Lamazerolles, with an MDF tent frame over a solid pine bed made from PEFC-certified wood. Every bed is finished by hand in water-based lacquer that meets EN 71-3, the European toy safety standard for paint. There are 26 colours to choose from, and a matching touch-up stick comes with the bed.

The low frame is easy for small children to climb in and out of, and it's suitable from age 3. Because it's made for your order, allow 3 to 4 weeks for delivery. It can't be returned as a change of mind, but faults and damage are covered in full. It comes ready for self-assembly.

The bed takes a UK single (90cm by 190cm) or a continental single (90cm by 200cm) mattress, to match the size you order, on a roll-up slatted base. The pull-out bed takes a 90cm by 180cm mattress (90cm by 190cm under the continental single), no deeper than 12cm, on a white melamine base. Mattresses aren't included.

Room fit

The bed takes 208cm of wall (218cm for a 200cm mattress) and 110cm of floor out from the wall. With the pull-out bed open, leave about a metre clear beside it. The roof stands 146cm high, so it suits most rooms, including under a sloping ceiling if you measure first.
