About the Treehouse
Two beds, one treehouse. The Treehouse Bunk Bed puts the top bunk inside a proper cabin, with a pitched roof, cut-out windows to look through, and boards deliberately left uneven so it reads as a real treehouse.
The lower bunk sits close to the floor, so it suits a younger brother or sister, a sleepover or a parent reading at bedtime.
It's handmade to order in Belgium by Mathy by Bols, designed by François Lamazerolles, with a solid pine frame, a birch plywood ladder and MDF panels made from PEFC-certified wood from sustainably managed forests. Every bed is finished by hand in water-based lacquer that meets EN 71-3, the European toy safety standard for paint. There are 26 colours to choose from, and a matching touch-up stick comes with the bed.
The top bunk is for children aged 6 and over. Because it's made for your order, allow 3 to 4 weeks for delivery. It can't be returned as a change of mind, but faults and damage are covered in full. The roof and side panels arrive already assembled, so you join large sections rather than building from flat components.
Both bunks take the same size of mattress, to match the size you order: UK singles (90cm by 190cm), small doubles (120cm by 190cm) or 140cm by 190cm doubles. The mattress on the top bunk must be no deeper than 12cm, so the guard rails stay at their full height. The bottom bunk isn't raised, so it can take a deeper mattress if you prefer. Mattresses aren't included. The perforated bases come with the bed, so there are no extra bases to buy.

Room fit
The single takes 229cm of wall and comes 139cm out from it (169cm for the small double, 189cm for the double). It's 221cm high to the top of the roof in every size, so a standard 2.4m ceiling leaves about 19cm above it; measure your ceiling before ordering.
Questions parents ask
Which mattresses do I need?
Two of the same size as the bed: UK singles (90 x 190cm), small doubles (120 x 190cm) or 140 x 190cm doubles. The one on the top bunk must be no deeper than 12cm.
Will it fit under my ceiling?
It's 221cm high in every size, so a standard 2.4m ceiling leaves about 19cm above the roof. Measure your ceiling before ordering.
Is there a version with a slide?
Yes. The Treehouse Bunk Bed with Slide adds a slide from the top bunk, and the Treehouse Bunk Bed with Platform and Slide adds a platform and slide at the foot of the bed.
Can I choose any colour?
Yes. All 26 colours are listed on this page, at the same price. If you'd like to see a colour sample first, just ask.
Can the bottom bunk take a deeper mattress?
Yes. The depth limit is there for the guard rails on the top bunk. The bottom bunk isn't raised, so a deeper mattress is fine if you'd like more comfort. A deeper mattress does take a little headroom from the space under the top bunk.
