About the Oakley
The Oakley is a heavy-duty detachable wooden bunk bed, with solid panelled ends and chunky corner posts that give it a calm, substantial look. The frame is knotless rubberwood, a dense hardwood, and each bunk is rated to 25 stone (158kg), so it's built for growing children, teenagers and grown-ups alike. When the children want their own rooms, it splits into two single beds.
It comes in a warm oak finish or white, and takes two UK single mattresses. The top bunk has full-length guard rails, and the ladder can be fitted on either side. There's 28cm under the bottom bunk for storage boxes.
The top bunk takes a UK single, 90cm by 190cm, no deeper than 15cm, so the guard rail stays high enough above it. The bottom bunk takes a UK single too, and isn't raised, so it can take a deeper mattress if you prefer. The mattresses shown above are matched to both bunks.
The Oakley arrives flat-packed for self-assembly, with full instructions and fittings. It's a two-person build. If you'd rather someone else did it, there's a link to book a local assembler below the returns policy. Delivery is free, in 1 to 3 working days, and it comes with a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee.

Room fit
The Oakley needs 207cm of wall and 103cm out from the wall, plus room in front of the ladder. It stands 166cm high, so measure from where the top mattress will sit to the ceiling: allow about 70cm for a younger child to sit up, and 80 to 90cm for a teenager.
Questions parents ask
Can it be split into two beds?
Yes. It separates into two single beds, so it works as a bunk now and as two beds later.
Is it strong enough for teenagers or adults?
Yes. Each bunk is rated to 25 stone (158kg), and the frame is solid knotless rubberwood with chunky corner posts.
What mattresses does it take?
Two UK singles, 90cm by 190cm. The top one should be no deeper than 15cm. The bottom bunk isn't raised, so it can take a deeper mattress.
