About the The
The King is a black metal bunk bed with a double on top and a double below, so it sleeps up to four in the footprint of one bed. Both bunks are the same size: choose small doubles or full doubles. It's built for large families and shared bedrooms, and the heavy-duty frame suits holiday homes, hostels and guest accommodation too. It comes with a 3-year manufacturer's guarantee.
The frame is 1.5mm mild steel, and both bunks sit on 4mm mesh bases, so you only need the mattresses. There's 33cm of clearance under the bottom bunk, and you can add matching underbed drawers when you order. They're powder-coated to match the frame, run on castors and have handles. Each one is 90cm wide and 62cm deep, with a storage space 86cm wide, 58cm deep and 19.5cm high for bedding, clothes or toys.
The ladder is reversible, so it can go on either side to suit the room. The King arrives flat-packed for self-assembly, with full instructions, and delivery is free in 2 to 5 working days. If you'd rather someone else did it, there's a link to book a local assembler below the returns policy.
It takes two mattresses: two doubles (135cm by 190cm), or two small doubles (120cm by 190cm) if you choose the small double size. The mattress on the top bunk should be no deeper than 15cm. The top bunk is for children aged 6 and over. The MemoryDream 15 is the one we'd put on both bunks.

Room fit
The King needs 200cm of wall and 144.5cm out from the wall for the double (129.5cm for the small double). If you add the drawers, allow about 62cm more in front for them to pull out. It stands 171cm high, so measure from where the top mattress will sit to the ceiling: allow about 70cm for a younger child to sit up, and 80 to 90cm for a teenager.
Questions parents ask
Does it take singles or doubles?
Doubles. Both bunks take a double (135cm by 190cm), or a small double (120cm by 190cm) on the small double size, so it sleeps up to four. The MemoryDream 15 is the one we'd put on both bunks.
Can I add storage?
Yes. Choose the underbed drawers option and you get matching drawers on castors, each 90cm wide and 62cm deep, that slide under the bottom bunk.
Which side does the ladder go?
Either. The ladder is reversible, so you can fit it on whichever side suits the room.
Can the bottom bunk take a deeper mattress?
Yes. The 15cm limit is there for the guard rails on the top bunk. The bottom bunk isn't raised, so a deeper mattress is fine if you'd like more comfort. A deeper mattress does take a little headroom from the space under the top bunk.
