Brampton Detachable Metal Bunk Bed

The Brampton is an extra strong metal bunk bed with a reinforced steel frame and tubular slats, rated to 20 stone (127kg) per sleeper, so it's suitable for teens and adults too. It's a simple, sturdy bunk for shared bedrooms, guest rooms and holiday lets that need to cope with everyday wear, and it's detachable, splitting into two single beds when the children want their own space.

Choose a standard single, or a small single for narrower rooms, in black, white or grey (the small single is in black). The top bunk has full-length guard rails, and the ladder is reversible, so it can go on either side. There's 33cm under the bottom bunk for storage.

It takes two mattresses of the size you choose: UK singles (90cm by 190cm) or small singles (75cm by 190cm). The top one should be no deeper than 15cm, so the guard rail stays high enough above it. The bottom bunk isn't raised, so it can take a deeper mattress if you prefer. The mattresses shown above are matched to both bunks.

Room fit

The Brampton needs 200cm of wall and 98cm out from the wall (82.5cm for the small single), plus room in front of the ladder. It stands 160cm high, so measure from where the top mattress will sit to the ceiling: allow about 70cm for a younger child to sit up, 80 to 90cm for a teenager, and 90cm or more for an adult.
