About the Oakley
The Oakley quad is a double over a double, so it sleeps up to four in the floor space of one bed. Choose small doubles or full doubles: both bunks are the same size. It has the same solid panelled ends and chunky corner posts as the Oakley bunk, in knotless rubberwood, and each sleeper is rated to 20 stone (127kg), so it's suitable for teens and adults too. It's made for large families, shared bedrooms, holiday homes and guest rooms. It's detachable too: when needs change, it splits into two double beds.
It comes in a warm oak finish or white. The top bunk has full-length guard rails, and the ladder can be fitted on either side. There's 28cm under the bottom bunk for storage boxes, or for the optional pull-out trundle.
It takes two mattresses: two doubles (135cm by 190cm), or two small doubles (120cm by 190cm) on the small double size. The mattress on the top bunk should be no deeper than 15cm, so the guard rail stays high enough above it. The bottom bunk isn't raised, so it can take a deeper mattress if you prefer. The mattresses shown above are matched to both bunks.
Choose the trundle version and it sleeps five. The pull-out trundle comes in the same oak or white finish, on castors, with its own single memory foam trundle mattress made to fit it, and it slides away under the bottom bunk when it isn't needed. Only the trundle mattress is included: the mattresses for the two bunks are sold separately.
The Oakley quad arrives flat-packed for self-assembly, with full instructions. It's a heavy two-person build, so allow an afternoon. If you'd rather someone else did it, there's a link to book a local assembler below the returns policy. Delivery is free, in 1 to 3 working days, and it comes with a 5-year manufacturer's guarantee.

Room fit
The Oakley quad needs 207cm of wall and 148cm out from the wall for the double (133cm for the small double), plus room in front of the ladder. With the trundle, allow about 100cm in front of the bed to pull it out. It stands 166cm high, so measure from where the top mattress will sit to the ceiling: allow about 70cm for a younger child to sit up, 80 to 90cm for a teenager, and 90cm or more for an adult.
Questions parents ask
Does it take singles or doubles?
Doubles. Both bunks take a double (135cm by 190cm), or a small double (120cm by 190cm) on the small double size, so it sleeps up to four.
Can I add a trundle?
Yes. Choose the trundle version and it comes with a pull-out single trundle in the same oak or white, on castors, with its own memory foam trundle mattress made to fit it. It slides under the bottom bunk when it isn't in use, and takes the bed to five sleepers. The mattresses for the two bunks aren't included with the trundle version, so add them separately.
Can it be split into two beds?
Yes. It separates into two double beds, or two small doubles on the small double size.
Is it strong enough for teenagers or adults?
Yes. Each sleeper is rated to 20 stone (127kg), and the frame is solid knotless rubberwood with chunky corner posts, so it's suitable for teens and adults too.
Which side does the ladder go?
Either. The ladder can be fitted on the left or the right.
Can the bottom bunk take a deeper mattress?
Yes. The 15cm limit is for the guard rails on the top bunk. The bottom bunk isn't raised, so a deeper mattress is fine.
