About the Sterling
The Sterling is built for strength that lasts. It's a heavy-duty bunk bed, made in Britain from Scandinavian pine and rated by the manufacturer for up to 25 stone (158kg) on each bunk. It's made to be slept in for years, by children, teenagers and adults alike, which makes it as at home in a guest room, holiday let or house-share as it is in a shared children's bedroom.
The frame is heavy and rattle-free, with a sturdy integrated ladder and guard rails on the top bunk for secure, confident climbing. Two single beds sit in the footprint of one, freeing up floor space without compromising on build.
When the children want their own rooms, or you'd rather have two guest beds than one bunk, the Sterling separates into two single beds.
It's backed by a 12-year guarantee, the longest we offer on any bunk bed.
Once you've ordered, we'll be in touch to confirm whether you'd like the ladder on the left or the right. If you'd rather not build it yourself, add Room of Choice Assembly on this page before checkout. The delivery team build it in the room you choose and take the packaging away, so the bed is ready to sleep in the day it arrives.
The top bunk is for children aged 6 and over. Both bunks take a standard UK single mattress, 90cm by 190cm, or a small single, 75cm by 190cm, if you choose the small single size. The mattress on the top bunk should be no deeper than 15cm. The MemoryDream 15 is the one we'd put on both bunks.

Room fit
The Sterling needs 206cm of wall and 103cm out from the wall (88cm for the small single), plus room for the ladder on whichever side you choose. At 160cm high it suits rooms with lower or sloping ceilings. Measure from where the top mattress will sit to the ceiling, and allow about 70cm for a younger child to sit up and 80 to 90cm for a teenager or adult.
Questions parents ask
Can it be split into two beds?
Yes. The Sterling separates into two single beds, so it can become two beds when the children want their own rooms, or two guest beds.
Is it strong enough for teenagers and adults?
Yes. The manufacturer rates each bunk for up to 25 stone (158kg), and the Scandinavian pine frame is built for children, teenagers and adults, which is why it suits guest rooms and holiday lets as well as children's bedrooms. The top bunk is for children aged 6 and over.
Which mattresses do I need?
Two UK single mattresses, 90cm by 190cm, or two small singles, 75cm by 190cm, if you choose the small single size. The MemoryDream 15 is the one we'd put on both bunks.
Can the bottom bunk take a deeper mattress?
Yes. The 15cm limit is there for the guard rails on the top bunk. The bottom bunk isn't raised, so a deeper mattress is fine if you'd like more comfort. A deeper mattress does take a little headroom from the space under the top bunk.
